A couple days ago I learned that one person made a very generous donation to bring us to our Go Fund Me goal. @zerozpurl recounted her time nearly a decade ago studying for the Bar exam at the Social Study. She would study, we would talk and began a neighborly bond and have kept in touch throughout the years. I didn’t realize the place she held in her heart for us was so great as she explained her generous gesture. Her words will always remain with me. She said, the Social Study was the place I would always go to study for school and I loved spending time there. It was warm and welcoming, the music was great, the staff was warm, and you fed me while I was a fully immersed student. My dad always taught me that when you have, you give. And now im a successful lawyer and I have, and I want to give. It warms my heart to know that people that have, are giving right now. That is the essence of real community. I am humbled by the generous donations from EVERYONE that has helped us stay afloat. I have struggled for a decade to keep this small business going and now amidst the current apocalypse I’m having to dig deep mentally, spiritually, financially and psychologically. Small businesses are on the verge of extinction and I have promised to continue to fight for a little business with a lot of heart. Our heart is still beating thanks to you. We will keep pushing as long as we can and we want to thank each and every one of you who comes by for a TO-GO drink or snack, bottle of wine, or beer, or just to simply say hi. We will continue to push through this pandemic because we know the value of small business and we mourn the loss of so many that will not be able to make it through this. We will continue to keep our Go Fund Me campaign open as ongoing business restrictions have not allowed our doors to fully re-open and we are still trying to keep our ship afloat. Donations are still welcome but we also just appreciate the support of a friendly face dropping by to say hi.
